Hey guys I just bought an 04 Mach 1 and I want to start modding it. I want to know which are the best mods for these cars, what do they react best to. I want to get it deep into the 12's without a power adder if possible. Thanks...

If your a good driver you can get 13.1-13.2 bone stock with a 5 speed. But for the rest of us, yeah 4.10's, Mid-Length or Long Tube Headers, Midpipe, Catback, and Dynotune. I would go with a good set of Drag Radials.

The two previous posts pretty much sums it up as far as n/a mods. If you really want a bad azz n/a mach, throw on a set of boss 330 ported heads and a set of stge 2 cams and youd be in the mid 11 range or better with all mods listed.

I didn't realize that you could get these cars to those numbers without a power adder. So when I asked how to get the car into the 12's I was trying to be realistic with my numbers. Now that I know that these cars are capable of 11's NA then that is what my goal is going to be. What my question should of been was this: How fast can I get my Mach 1 with bolt ons, gears and slicks without using a power adder??

There have been a couple of 4V owners that have done as good as 11.2-11.3 or so with bolt-ons and a stock motor.

As far as having a naturally aspirated 4V, there's a lot of power to be made out of these motors. DSS sells a really nice 302ci/5.0L stroker rotating assembly for DOHC 4.6L. You could go with some nice heads from Livernois Motorsports that will flow up to 330cfm. Boss330(Al Papitto) also sells some nice heads, but I'm not sure what the flow numbers are on them. Boss330 himself has an SN95 Mustang with a N/A 5.4L running in the low 9s. As far as cams go, there are lots of good companies that sell cams for 4Vs. The stock Mach 1 intake manifold only needs to be ported and it'll flow just fine for an N/A application... You should at least be able to run well into the 10s with a built 4V modular, if everything is done right.
