Just installed PMS however I just want to mess with the idle. Is there way just to do that. Basically for now I just want my car stock settings but I want to be able to mess with the idle and tps and stuff. Is that possible? Also, can I control when the fan turns on to make the engine run cooler?
Yea you can do all of that. Rule number 1 in the manual says the TPS must be set at .93-98v. Run a code scanner to see if you have anything stored. If you don't own a code scanner then drive over to Auto Zone. They will do it for free. After everything is all clear then start playing with the PMS. The fan setting is as easy as entering the number you want. I would suggest 175 degrees. Go to www.stangtuning.com for more info. If you need a bracket so you can mount it in front of you then PM JR (94SC50).

I want some more info on these things. How hard are they to use. And what is the biggest benfit of them. What all can you do with them. Dustin
It's like a Tweecer except it doesn't require a laptop. It has a Nitendo looking hand held unit. See JR's posts for pics. www.andersonfordmotorsport.com sells them for $850+. Or you can find a deal like I got used. Mine was under $600 for the older style version. The biggest benefit if used correctly will solve some of the driveability issues associated with installing aftermarket parts on our cars.
wow so I turned on the idel control to play with my idle and as soon as it is enabled the rpms shoot up to 1500, and I can't bring it down. Plus my IAC now making ticking sound so I don't know if I broke it. If I did that sux. 0 for 1 on the PMS.
Wow learn something new about this thing everyday. I didn't know we could control the fan? That's an awesome feature, so how do we use it? I just finished up this style bracket today and just took it for a night spin. It's mounted in a great spot here and is totally visible. This is the version I'm sending Joe for his model.
They are very easy to use and great tuning device. I've never felt my car more powerful than it is now!! I had no clue what a PMS was until Joe got his and started talking about them. I see them used for sale for like Joe said under $600 and I saw one go for $550 on stangtuning.com with a 3 bar map sensor included.
Dont mean to do this, but I didnt want to start a new post for this. JR...those white Gauges are nice and they are crystal clear...I want them, need them, gotta have them....Hook me up bro...Place, price, etc!! RC
How come when I enable the idle control the rpms shoot up and I can't get them down???? Plus I don't see where to change when the fan comes on I just see that you can add fuel and timing according to water temp.
Alot of people have that problem and some don't. I however do and I don't even turn it on. I'm -20 for fuel and -8 for timing in the idle menu. just ry using it off and play with fuel and timing to get it to idle the way you want.
mmm...I thought the same thing until Joe said something. Maybe he'll chime back in. Anyways I found this on another thread I answered to so I'll just paste it and hope it helps ya. The key is tuning in a custom curve on your cars combo. The O4 PMS is the best mod ever since the blower install. I've been tuning it for a week now and I believe I have it almost perfected! It takes awhile to get it all figured out on fuel and timing but the curve is what you want but I'm still learning myself. Idle table: Timing @ 10* Start up Fuel @ -30 Idle Control: Off P/T table: I started with setting part throttle tables (LL,ML & HL) until I had no pinging and felt max power. I worked with the timing in LL first and drove around and did the ML next and HL last. -----LL 2 3 4 ML 5 6 7 HL 2000 10 10 10 10 -5 -5 -10 -10 -10 2500 10 10 10 10 -5 -5 -10 -10 -10 3000 10 10 10 10 -5 -5 -10 -10 -10 3500 10 10 10 10 -5 -5 -10 -10 -10 4000 10 10 10 10 -5 -5 -10 -10 -10 4500 10 10 10 10 -5 -5 -10 -10 -10 5000 10 10 10 10 -5 -5 -10 -10 -10 5500 10 10 10 10 -5 -5 -10 -10 -10 6000 10 10 10 10 -5 -5 -10 -10 -10 6500 10 10 10 10 -5 -5 -10 -10 -10 WOT table: I set timing next in here same as the PT table until I had max power and then no pinging. 3-4K -15*= (10* total timing) 4-5K -10*= (15* total timing) 5-7K -5* = (20* total timing) I use Standalone : On @ 2200 RPM (automatically starts timing @ 25* total +/- what I added in the other menus.) It took me over a week after install to get it tuned just right and it will change everyday b/c you pick up so much info and learn a lot about your car in the process.
MM&FF August 2004 has a write up on the PMS. They have a picture of the Fan Control screen. Says "On Temp" and "Off Temp." My car doesn't even have a motor so I'm not sure where this screen is. I'm relying on JR to become a professional at this so he can help me tune my car.
