Hello once again folks. I just rebuilt my tranny and was wondering if anyone had pics or any info on how to install a kickdown assembly. I have a C-4 mounted on a 289, and I can't seem to get the right answer. And also what does the kickdown do exactly? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks guys.

In an AOD, the kickdown controls the line pressure in the tranny which controls the shift points and makes sure the clutches done slip and stuff like that.

I imagine it has a similar function on a C4.

Sorry but I can't answer the other questions since mine is an AOD

These guys could probably answer it though:

Are you working on a 67 or prior? The kick down is a cable that reaches from the trans to the accelerator pedal, 'under' the car. If you are used to a 68 or newer 302/351, you might be thinking of the rod that comes up from the trans and bolts to the carb. There is an illustration in the Ford repair manuals...
