Well, I took my 3 year old to his first car show, got him secured and all in the Stang. We had a blast, he loved hearing the engine and would say " I want to fell it " each time i made a speedy take off. Hopefully I can give him the say appreciation for our hobby that my dad gave me. We rolled down the windows which he really seemd to like as well. I was worried he would get bored but we stayed about 2 hrs at the show and he walked all around w/ me and seemed very interested in each car, even if they weren't all Fords..It was a memory making day..
In '03 we took my son (3 at the time) to Laguna Seca for the Monterey Historic races. He'd never been around race cars before, so I was a little worried that the open headers would scare him, ruining his first car experience. We entered the track and walked to the front straight to watch the cars coming out of turn 11 and come blasting by us, heading to the blind turn 1 & 2. As luck would have it, there were 427 Cobras, GT40's and Corvettes on the track, all with open exhaust. I watched him to see if he was scared, and if we should move. I was amazed at his composure! As one car would rip past us at 100mph or so, he would look back turn 11 for the next one, he was full-on into it! Since then, he's been to the drags, the local circle track, ridden in a monster truck and been with me when I did a burnout in the wife's Corvette, all with an ear-to-ear grin. The kid's going to be alright...
Yup, my 10 year old twins take most of the pictures now when we go to a show. It's gonna cost me 2 cars in a few years. It's the best when they tell me what they like about certain cars.
