Well with my new employee discount I decided to put a new system in my car. Right now I have a old Sony headunit, and panasonice speakers. Soon, I will have an Alpine headunit ( forget the model number), Alpine Type-R speakers, and 1 alpine type-R 12" subwoofer with mathcing amp. I want a clean install, and I already have a few ideas but I want to see what you guys come up with.

    Me too! Good thread idea.

Actually as a project thought for this winter I though about doing a nice sound system with custom install. I don't really need one but I am running out of projects.

    Post up guys!!

I was just down in my car and this is what I need.

    I need:
*To be able to fold my back seats down, and obviously keep them in there.
*To keep my spare. Home is 180 miles away and I dont want to be stuck without one.

    What I was thinking,

Pull out the drivers side trunk panel and make a box that will fit in there, and get as much cubic feet as possible behind the sub. I may be getting a 10 now becuase I need as much room as possible

For the amp I might bolt it upside down underneath the rear 6x8's, OR do the same thing as the sub on the drivers side. Heres what I was thinking, since and amp obv doesnt need much room, build the same size box as the sub to keep thinks looking symetricalm but in the extra room mount my nitrous bottle behind it. My whole nitrous kit is completly hidden except the bottle, and this would be the perfect solution! Can it be done?

Well it's not very custom and will probably be removed soon, but here's some pics of mine.

I was thinking about taking out the rear seat and putting in a box that took up the whole backseat. I would have a piece of would slanted on 45 degree angle and have like 2 12s or 2 10s...When i actually change my pulleys I might have my friends dad build me a custom box. it would look like this ( very rough rough drawing)

If you are after awesome sound and not necessarily awesome SPL, I would recommend more, smaller drivers. I plan to use 2 6.5" subwoofers mounted in 1/2 cubic foot enclosures and attached to the underside of the parcel tray. I'll get the low end extension and plenty of volume but I won't be able to scare small children or set off car alarms with it. More of an "audiophile" type of system than a "gangsta" style one. ;)

Yeah my original plan was to get an 8" and mount it in between the two 6x9s in the back but my work doesnt carry 8's.

Theres a Ford Emblem there instead of the pony now. My next project for it will be putting a box on the back. Its sounds good, but I think it would sound better with a box.

Ive seen an install with the speakers where mine are, and two on the seat part. it was pretty cool.

I was thinking about getting that sub for my rear seat delete, but it didn't leave enough headroom for my steering wheel

LOL, and we complain about our cars being heavy.

Am I the only one that has gutted everything in the trunk including spare and all carpeting? I'll be deleting the rear seats soon, too.

I do have an amp back there sitting in the tire spot (easy removal in "time of need", lol).
