    I finally had a chance to run a Lightning.....DESTROYED it :D TWICE :D :D

We only ran up to 70MPH, but he was WAY back there, no chance of running me down.

    Is that common?

I thought they were fast. I could hear his S/C whine (that's how I knew he was in it), but it wasn't helping him much. He was slow off the line and I just kept pulling away.

Personally, I don't think they're all that impressive til you mod'em with a shift kit, methanol, and cog drive; somethin like that anyway.

My buddy has one with a JLP short block, the aforemetioned mods, plenum, CAI, TB, all kinds a ****. He hammers me pretty thoroughly.

What year of Lightning was it? The 01-04s are good for 13.7s or so stock....

I've never really gotten a chance to run a newer Lightning, but I would bet it would be a lot closer race up here cause of the altitude, which puts me at a 13.8 stock. Nice kill though..... :nice:

It seems to me that the Lightning is an awesome base to start with. Regardless of aerodynamics, the HP in stock form alone should be enough to hang with us.....IF you can hook the launch.

But, I hate to say it myself, I was not impressed. If I were driving that ride, I would make damn sure no GT or Mach walks me. Just my take :nonono:

Well I guess I was driving a mach though :worship:

The Lightning only has a 2v  Didn't know that. What a waste.

The pic in your avatar is pretty sweet. Is that your ride? Any other pics? The paint scheme rocks.

    NICE ride Kyle.

I like the meld of Mach and Cobra features. You took the best of the Cobra (front and rear fascia, rear decklid) and slapped them right onto the Mach.

I appreciate your choice of colors as well, especially down there close to Aggieland (I hate those *******).

Gun's up! Red Raiders Rule, Ag's can gig this :notnice:

I'm only two hours South of you bro, same altitude. I walked him, no problem.

    It wasn't even close :spot:

Very true.... you are pretty close to me.... think the altitude might only be like a couple hundred feet lower down there anyway......

The last time I actually raced a Lightning from a dead stop was my friends 2000 Lightning with several things done. I was inexperienced and had a ****ty launch with too much spin. He pulled me by two cars off the line. Then about 80 I caught up with him and passed him.....

And Kyle, your car looks friggin badass dude...... sweet color scheme :nice:

It's all driver, LOL. I simply rolled out on this kill and hammered the throttle as soon as I heard his S/C wind up. I'm not big on 2000+RPM launches, too much wheel spin unless you heat the rears for about seven seconds. We make enough power down low to roll out and hammer it. 2nd gear is where I pull away. The 3rd gear scratch is just a reminder that I have another gear left :D

Try power-shifting 2nd at only 5800RPM and make sure she's pointed straight ===

Believe it or not, you can kill '03-'04 Cobra's from the redlight. Just make sure you shut it off at around 50MPH (that's where they start running us down :hail2: ).

Bring it up! We should call a meet here at Lubbock Hooters. I have my own parking space there, LOL.

Mustang Row faces Loop 289. Seems that every time I park there, others follow suite.

Yeah, I believe it that a Mach can get an '03/'04 Cobra from a dead stop. Thats where our solid rear axle helps as us :hail2: There's honestly not a whole lot that CAN beat a Mach off the launch, in my experience....

And hell, i'm down for a meet in Lubbock. I wouldn't mind driving the two hours, if we could get it organized.....

If we can get it organized maaayyyyyyyybe, Dallas is 2½-3hrs for me. Lubbock is further than that.

I do like me some Hooters though.

Little orange shorts, god bless'em. :flag:
