im thinking long and hard about getting a 00-03 lightning. I was wondering what would have to be done to get them to lets say....450hp and 500hp.

    Would a chip/pulley grab 450hp?

any other comments/complaints about lightnings would help too.

    Thanks- :D

#6 lower pulley, Ported Blower, CAI and, dyno tune (most important) may get you in the 450 hp area. Some will argue (to include me) that you need a built bottom end at 450hp and up. If you are looking at 500hp: built bottom, pulley, kenny bell/magnum powers blower, and very very important -dyno tune from a reputable tuner to ensure your air/fuel ratio is safe . Check the search on the NLOC (National Lightning Owners Club) forum or F150Online forum. More info on Lightnings than you would ever want to know.

it actually is not very hard to do.i have a 2001 lightning.and with a 4l.b.pulley,cai,throttle body and a autologic chip(real agressive tune on 103 vp unleded) i dynoed 411 at the rear wheels and ran 12,6s all day at carlsbad for a couple of years.about 7-8 months ago i started experimenting with nitrous and with a 70 shot i dynoed
529 h.p. and 703 t.q. at the rear wheels.wich u generally lose 15 % thru the drivetrain so that would be around 608 h.p. and 808 f.t.at the flywheel.with 28 inch hoosiers got me 11.9 @114m.p.h. at carlsbad(100 % stock motor with 52000 miles)so i will agree it is very inportant to have someone do the tuning that knows what they are doing it is also very possible to get those numbers on a everyday driver.i have the truck and the dyno sheets to prove it(also the 11 sec time slip hehe the most inportant)i personal will not have anyone except danny swanson up in torance touch my truck.(310-787-7800) it is very possible just shop around an ask questions.if you go to socalloc.com or nloc.net there is alot of forums and discussions on this.(by the way iam qk01lightning on either of those web sites if u have any questions)good luck late.

    team swanson
    529 r.w.h
    703 r.w.t
    11.9 @ 114

I just traded in an 02 Lightning!!!!

It takes a lot of work and money to get a lightning into the 450+ hp range. My lightning had a built block, upper and lower pulley(6 lower, 1.5 upper), valve body, throttle body, crowler cams, diablo flip chip, CAI, Dyno tune, best I could do was 425hp and 580tq. This was on a mustang dyno so these are real corrected numbers. These numbers were only able to net me a 12.8 on motor in the 90 degree florida heat!! Like I said, I was there, it takes alot of time and money to make these produce HP!!!! :nice:
