I want to put the kind of hood pins on my car which have a key that unlocks them instead of the standard pins which look like giant pins what held the body on the chassis of my RC10 I used to run. I have scene them before, and saw them advertised somewhere, but where is a good place to find them?

Those aren't really hood pins, they're locks. They're not desaigned to work as a pin for holding the hood down...and I've heard of them breaking before.

PLEASE, read this first. I had them on my car. I put them on with the new hood I had, catch that, HAD. They suck more than I can tell you. Sometimes they do not luck completly and if you forget for some bad reason to lock them well you know what can happen. Mine were locked and well we thought they were and the day before our show I pulled out into traffic at 30 mph my hood took flight. I wrote the maker and told them what I thought of the pieces and well I got a response that I should have a safty catch on my car to protect it from taking flight. Well the safety catch was installed and still flight was taken. Others have had this same thing happen and after $3000.00 worth of replacing broken parts it is well worth it to get the normal pin type. If you need the locks then get the pin type and use some small locks that will fit the holes :lock: and use them this way.
You can do what you want, I just do not want anyone to have what has happened to me and others to happen to you. I wish you all the luck in what ever you choose to do.

So what is the best, cause I need them too. I think my Cobra R hood is vulnerable althought I have gone 90 mph without a problem once I aligned the hood properly! Maybe I am pushing my luck?

Thanks for the info. Were you using the factory latch also? Im using the locking pins with the factory latch, with the pins just for extra safty.

I looked at these too before I bought mine. They state specifically, the locks are not designed to hold your hood down. They are to make it tougher for thieves who want whats under there. I got conventional pins and still use the factory latch. I dont care what it looks like, I just want my hood to stay put. I had one fly up once and it was scary, not to mention the damage it did.

By all means use the factory stuff with the pins. This is about the only way I would say go for it.
