Just got a 83 capri with the 2.3L. Starts easily, idles perfect, but as soon as you put it in gear it sputters and shuts off. If I get the RPMs built up to about 3000, it runs great. But it's hard to get it up to that without it shutting off. This is a carbed motor also. I drove it and as long as the rpms are 3000 or above it runs perfect, but as soon as it goes under 3000 it starts to sputter. Anybody got any suggestions? Thanks.
Fuel filter? I know when mine went/was going it ran fine ok once the rpm's got up, but it coughed and sputtered at lower rpm's. And taking into consideration that it's an 83, that could very well be the problem, or atleast part of it.
