i am a new owner of a 2005 v6 mustang conv. after going to ponybuilder i realized that i might just need to lower the car a little. i don't want to go extreme, but i also want a more aggressive look. i have found lowering springs on ebay ranging from 88 dollars-300 dollars. does it really matter when it comes to springs? do i need to change anything else other than springs? ie...shocks, etc etc? will the ride still be a good one? finaly i see alot of spring kits mention 1.5-2 inch drop....is that noticeable?
thanks...for a new owner this is a godsend of info.

I dropped my car slightly less than an inch with a set of H&R sport springs (http://mrt-direct.com/2005/Pages/springs.php)

Dropping the car this amount didn't require anything other than the springs.... however when you start dropping it more your really should look at replacing other things like adding and adjustable panhard bar, shocks, struts...

After you drop your car you will also want to the the front end alignment checked...

as far as ride... I find the stock spring to be way to mushy!! The H&R springs firmed things up nicely... car handles a lot better now.. bumps are a little harsher... but not really all that bad...

Just how much is - "a little"?

lord knows that the car can definitely use a little drop in the rear!

I dropped mine down by 7/8" in the back with the Roush lowering springs ... :nice:
(just wasn't comfortable with any more that that)

Speed bumps, the Panhard adjustment and the ft end alignment made that an easy decision for me. :nonono:

I've got an 2006 V6 also. Would installing GT rear springs level the car?

spend the money for good springs. As others have said here, anything more than an inch requires camber plates and an adjustable panhard bar. And an inch is a good amount of drop, it really is noticable.

I bought some $90 springs, after 4 days I had some $90 springs for sale. They were so cheaply made the car sat on the rear bump stops. I didn't even waste the time or effort to install the fronts.

Go with a brand name, you'll spend less money in the long run.

    dropping the mustang

well here is my 02 cents :) I dropped my car 2.5 in rear anf 2.0 frt it looks great and still rides good . All I did was the springs still have stock struts and shocks . I will however replace my struts and shocks cause there old and I believe it will ride a little nicer than it does with stock struts/shocks . I know saving the money on parts is a good thing but remember you get what you pay for so don't go too cheap and as far as how far you drop it is up to you and how you want it to look your choice . I personally don't see any difference in a small drop . I do agree to adding caster/camber plates and adjusable pan hard bar cause I see a treadwear thats not normal with my extreme drop . Here is mine hope it helps ya :D [/ATTACH]
