I have a lowered 99 GT that has stock springs that were cut with what looks to be cut off wheel no torching signs. Ride height is 1.5" lower and stance is good. Will I benefit from aftermarket lowering springs such as Eibach sportline springs?
honestly stay away from anything cut, yeah aftermarket shocks and struts will be good for a while, but they wont last for too long especially since your spring rate is jacked up. I also wouldn't go for the eibach as well, a lot of complaints about the height not being low enough, even after it had time to settle in, and be fully compressed. My recommendation would be to go for H&R super sport springs. I currently put them on myself about 3 months ago, i love my ride height, great handling, also cc-plates are a great investment because it's gonig to mess your camber and caster degrees while installing and they will only be able to adjust your toe, unless you get the plates. It may be a little pricy but nothing too extreme and waaaaayyyyyy better for your car and your piece of mind.
Thanks for the suggestion on springs. My car already has cc plates and ride height is good but ride quality is too soft. I have all new KYB shocks and struts to install. I was also concerned about eibach not being low enough so that question is also answered. Im doing a suspension rebuild with upgraded rear control arms, new bushings front to rear, def. new springs now, shocks, struts, and probably subframe connectors. Car has 70K and the goal is to get suspension freshened up before more HP is put to it.
I had cut spring on my 2000 gt, finally went with H&R super sport springs and it rides 100 times better and feels like a completely different car! Don't waste time with cut springs! I also went with fox body rear shocks for the extra travel. (car is not lowered in my pic)
