Okay guys, here's the deal. This morning I went to the local Ford dealership and bought my Mach 1 grille delete kit. Well it's not actually a kit because I had to buy them in seperate pieces because Ford doesn't sell the complete kit. Here is what I got -

    Running Horse Medallion - $28.84
    Radiator Cover - $23.77
    Bumper Trim Cover - $32.64

Total cost w/ tax - $92.28 :nonono: I know I could've gotten the complete kit waaay cheaper through mustangtuning.com or some place else for like 50 bucks or so but I couldn't wait and had to buy it now. I'm very impatience.

Anyways here is my problem. I got everything in but I need screws to hold my new horse in place. Ford didn't have them in stock and had to be special order. These screws cost $4.35 each. $8.70 for two screws, what the fck, over. They call it security screws. Security or not, I'm not paying $8.70 for some damn screws. What are my other options fellas, can any screw work with my new horse or do I have to buy those damn "security" screws. If I have no choice I'll go ahead and just get them but if not what are my options. Please help.

btw, you paid entirely too much.

heh.. I paid $7 for ONE screw......... I was soooooo pissed.. I have the screw in my hand right now with the reciept. It's the egr bolt that I snapped in half.

I say just buy those screws... if you don't want to wait (like I did for my bolt for 2 days) then just go to home depot and bring your pony there and see which screw fits..

You guys know you can just use the screws from the bottom of the old grill right? That's what I did and it works just fine. Just my opinion

I have the horse sitting in my garage, and I can get the hole kit for about $60 or less. I don't remember what I paid.

The kit from MustangTuning has two regular old philips screws (look like self-tapping sheet metal screws). I know the torx screws are available so no asshats take your pony, but man, that's a lot o' cash for two screws. You can probably get something similar at a hardware store.

Regular old self tapping screws came with my Steeda kit and you can get those for pennys at the hardware store. MustangTuning has free shipping on any $50 or up order. I got my spoiler from them in 3 days.

You can get the same torx screws at any large ACE hardware. I replaced the ones on my '96 GT Pony after someone backed into me. :bang:

Are the kits from Steeda or Mustang Tuning OEM? If they are, I'll be pissed.

you paid way too much. You should have come here and ask first before you got ripped off at the ford dealer. :notnice: I got mine from steeda for like $49 and yes they are original Ford parts.

I know, I know. But I couldn't resist. I'm very impatient. If I want somthing, I get it right away. Fck the BS and waiting around to see when the hell the UPS guy will be knocking on your door. I hated the ugly ass honeycomb grille and had to remove it right away. But anyways everything is on and looking good. I got some screws from the garage and it fitted perfectly. Man does this kit look good. One of my best mods so far. Cleans the front end real nice. But I'm still not done...I have to go to Pep Boys or Kragen and get some double side tape because the bumper trim cover doesn't sit flush with the bumper. Well, I learned my lesson. In the future if I had to get anything else, I definately not getting it from the dealer. Way too expensive.

Well, I bought my hood scoop from Brothers Performance for like $119 I think it was. But I haven't had the chance to have it installed and painted yet because I might want to get a different hood. My side scoops I bought cheap for like 45 bucks already painted in factory color. I was from an 04 take-off. This guy is local from where I'm at and he carrys alot of take-offs in mint condition. His website is www.fiveomotorsport.com and he is really cool. My smoked headlights I brought from this dude that also own a 2000 GT and wanted to put smoked headlights on his ride. He eventually sold the car before he even had the chance to install them. He sold them to me for 100 bucks brand new in the box. And they are OEM. That was a steal for me boy. My chin spoiler I also bought from Brothers Performance and I think I paid like 75 buck. And of course ya'll all know my Mach 1 grille delete story.
