I just installed magnaflow xpipe and cat back and love the sound, Any one with ? about exhaust I would go magnaflow in my opinion they do not make headers so Im deciding on either mac or headmen midlenths would love to hear your opinion or should I stay with stock
I would stay away from MAC longtube headers if you value your 4V engine - read Beefcake's thread, it details everything (including the company's poor response to their customers who experienced problems): http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=167953
I concur, no MAC headers. You've got a high quality mid pipe and cat back on the car now, don't skimp out on the headers. U.M.
thanks guys Hey uncle meat could you give a step by step guide on how to remove the drivers side valve cover on my 99 cobra. Also one of my spark plugs had some rust on it should I be worried what? thanks once again for the advice also what headers should I go for Long tube or mid and what company
Right off the top of my head I think it would require you to disconnect and remove the intake pipe from the throttle body. Then remove the two bolts holding the coil cover onto the valve cover. Once the coil cover is removed you can then take all the COP's off and remove the spark plugs. From there the removal of the remaining valve cover bolts should be all that's left I would think? Don't forget to replace the o-rings and gasket when you put it back on. As for the rusty plug I had that happen to me too last time I swapped mine. Somehow water had got down inside the #4 spark plug well which caused the plug to rust. Probably from me washing my engine and then not running it afterwards long enough to evaporate the water which worked it's way into the rear spark plug well... As for headers... whether you go with LT's or mids you'll need a mid-pipe too. There are some drawbacks to long tubes, especially if the car is lowered or if you plan on lowering it in the future. Do a few searches in here and the 4.6 forums and see what the other guys are recommending. I went with JBA shortys myself because it was part of the stipulation with my service department for keeping my warranty intact. U.M>
My bad. I just went back and re-read your question and you were asking about the driver's side valve cover... That one often times requires you to unbolt the brake booster/master cylinder from the firewall so you can obtain enough clearance to get the valve cover off. I have read where some guys have manged to work it free without resorting to this though... U.M.
Uncle Meat is the bomb Thanks Uncle Meat for your wise advice. I got that drivers side valve cover in 1 1/2 first timer here. I managed to wiggle it out sometimes if you just take it slow and look before you leap you can accomplish alot. Thanks once more for the help.
