About 6-8 lbs. IF you get a good tune! Non forged bottom ends are very fragile and will go out the door pronto if you dont have an excellent tune.

i take it nothing in our engine is forged then? i just bought this car and i only know 5.0's right now :)
i was gonna boost in the 6-8psi range to be safe.

your talking the intercooled version right? intercooled you can run about 11 psi with a good tune and high octane fuel

yeah i meant to add that i wanted an intercooler. i plan on running around 92 octane gas (pump gas) so i will probably stick around 7-9psi with an intercooler.

Correct, 96-01 snakes came with the "hypercraptic" stuff (sans the forged cranks)...they don't tend to fare too well once you throw 8 lbs+ or so at the engine. There's a lot of variables involved, of course - just do your research beforehand!
There isn't a "magical number" by any means, because even with a safe dyno tune, people have had problems (read: rebuild w/ forged internals was inevitable).

I wouldn't imagine you having any real issues with 7 to 9 pounds of intercooled boost, but make sure it is tuned properly (and keep a "rainy day" account, just in case you do need a forged rebuild later on down the road)!

My 01 was short lived at 8psi on dyno. Lucky number 8 piston was shot. GL on yours.
