alright, my "friend" just got a camaro v8, not the SS and I was wondering what it will take for me to beat him, or if I can already. He has just an exhaust [flowmaster catback I think]. I have everything listed below and my 4.10's will be finished today. Do I have the **** to beat him from light to light?

oh yeah, his camaro is a 93 hardtop automatic.

It depends on the condiditon of his car. Most older LT1's that I've seen are dogged out pieces of junk.

I really think you'll take him. The stall and gears is all you need to get on lt1s, especially autos.

Wasn't the 93's and older the POS 305's? One of my co-workers had one, it was MINT condition, he took REAL good care of it, and did a lot of stuff to the motor, and I still beat him with my stang bone stock.

If your right Chris, then skyz has nothing to worry about. I also took out a 93 camaro by about 4 car lengths with my first mustang (stock with h-pipe and catback).

naw, the 92's and older had the 305's(350's for the irocs) but in 93 the only V8 was the LT1, 275 horse. so it does have some power.

i think you can take him. its an auto so hes losing some of his power right there, and with those 4:10's installed, you should win.

    good luck :nice:

Okay if it is an LT1 (I remember now 93 was first year of it) then I really think he's gonna get beat. Come on guys!! 275 hp vs. what? 215?!?! The ONLY real mods this guy has (no offense Skyz) is an h-pipe and a shift kit. Okay, gears this afternoon, AND IT'S A VERT!! I don't think he has much of a chance unless the Camaro drive has a FUBAR car, which I don't think he does since the guy said it's mint condition. I'd like to think his stang could take out this crapmaro, but come on, he's basically stock, I don't see it happening.

Now Skyz, go prove me wrong!

i did miss the fact that his stang is a vert, but he should still be able to take him. at least by a little bit anyway.

I agree with Chris on this one, fella. Maybe you should install that nitrous in your garage today, as well. The difference is too steep and there's just not enough done to get you where he is. What gears come stock in those camaro's anyway?

Just stating the obvious, but feel free to make me look like an idiot if you smoke him :nice:

He also has a 2800 stall.

Just to tell you guys a little something, I'm auto and I beat one with the mods in my sig. He was also an auto. Not by much though, about a car all the way up to 120. Sure we only have 215hp, but we've got tons more torque. Our cars run very strong.

    I'm tossin up the :bs:

The 1993 LT1 had 275 hp / 325 trq from the factory. We have 215 / 285. By tons more trq you must have meant 40 less ft/lbs. And remember this is an LT1, not an LS1, they have pleny of low end grunt. I have a hard time believing you beat him to 120, or at all. I believe the stock rear end is a 3.42 but I could be wrong. Your current mods do not even equal his stock power.

MAYBE, and this is stretchin, if you launched very well you might have jumped him off the line with the 4.10s, but the lt1 would real you in pretty quick.

Stock GT auto - mid to low 15s
    Stock 93 LT1 - mid to high 14s

    Camaro = teh win

the stock rear in most 93's was a 3.23 gear ratio from what i have read, and they weigh several hundred pounds more than a mustang according to several sites. i say u will take him, as long as u get him off the line, but only for about a quarter mile if that, cuz top end they stil pull pretty good.

Adam, yea I gotta say, it seems like you, Aaron and I are the only one giving this guy a realistic expectation. These LT1's can be trouble for 99+ stangs (stock), and we all know they wipe the floor with us stock for stock. Okay, so he has gears and a stall. So what? That's not gonna make up for 60 more hp, and 40 more ft/lbs torque. So the LT1 isn't the lightest car in the world. Neither is his AUTOMATIC VERT! I'm sorry guys, but just because one of you might have "beaten" one one time, doesn't mean this guy will. I think he's gonna be really disappointed in the outcome.

his vert is auto also? i was giving that advantage to him over the fbod, now i gotta take that away as well. re-considering weight/power, fbod might just get ya.

ok well i have as real world a knowledge as anyone, and i personally drove an automatic lt1 at the track. it has a full exhaust system, a throttle body, and some kind of cold air thing. it hooked up perfectly, but only ran a 14.40. and it ran good. they make power, but they also weigh quite a bit. i didnt know his car was a vert and that changes the story, but the lt1 is not exactly soemthing to be scared of

Right, they're not supercars, but they are just too much for ours stock for stock. Even with his shift kit and gears, I don't know if he could hit 14's, but I don't own an auto, so who knows?

He's out powering you, the only way you have a chance if he spins bad. Even then top end is when they really come to life.
