I have a 88 GT Convertible(80Kmi) with an AOD, Speed Density, Mufflers & 3.55 Gears. I want to build my car to run mid to lows 12s on Drag Radials - by Summer of '06. How can I achieve this? I want to keep my AOD, Speed Density and am willing to use Nitrous as a power adder. Any help or suggestions would be apperciated.

To get close, you will need bigger heads and intake. You can get by without changing the cam. Or if you opt, there are a few SD friendly cams out there. (In the interest of tuning, I'd leave the stocker though)

You'll probably need a good set of headers, better H-pipe or X-pipe (your choice)

The biggest area that needs improvment is the AOD. A full rebuild with a stall and a semi-manual valvebody will be in order. The stall will make the biggest difference in the car and still allow it to be very streetable.

Start with that and if you're still not in the 12's you can add a supercharger. You'll need a specail part from Vortech but it can be done.

heads, nitrous, suspension, shift kit, converter and you will see the times you want. Will need to stiffen the car and upgrade the pump but not hard at all...I would not look at mufflers as an item to assist you though, and you may need to step up to a steeper gear ratio, maybe 410's
