I am getting prepared to order a 2006 GT deluxe. All of the dealerships around here are trying to charge me 2000-5000 over msrp and make me put money down. One only wants 500 down and will give me MSRP. I was going with that one, but if i buy outside of the state of Ohio I don't have to pay sales tax. So here is the question.

Does anyone have good experiences with ordering a 2006 from a dealership outside of Ohio but within 350 miles of Columbus ? It just seems like everyone is paying MSRP with no money to order one. Either way i can't see paying 3,000 over msrp around here for a 2005 with options and color that i don't want, so i am ordering one even it it takes 6 months to get here.

If you are in West Virginia, Michigan, Indiana, Virginia, Pennsylvania, or Kentucky please send me some info i am pretty close to calling every dealer in the midwest and comparing them but i would rather not make it my full time job for the next two days. If you have had good service in OH tell me also i would be interested even though i am looking outside of the state.

I ordered mine on X-Plan from Mike Raisor Ford in Lafayette, IN. I have not yet received my vehicle though, so I am crossing my fingers to see if they will stick to their word on the X-Plan. There do not charge over MSRP though, and never have a GT on the lot becuase they all go to customers who have them on order.

I ordered from Beach Ford in Va Beach, Va...
they're giving me straight msrp and a quick ordering time span

they asked for $500 down, but I have no problem with that (I'm paying for the car anyway, right?)

I already have a VIN and an est build date of 9/12, and I just ordered about a week ago..

FYI on the price gouging, had my 05 in for an oil change about a month and a half ago and saw a new 05 GT on the lot with a dealer addendum add on cost of $10,000. I had to count the zero's twice because I couldn't believe it. This is in the Chicago Burbs, won't name the dealer, I still use them for service. I purchased mine from them last Nov. from inventory the where asking for 2500 over sticker for it, needless to say that I didn't pay it but wasn't happy about paying sticker price either. It's the whole supply and demand.

    Good Dealer

I hope to be picking up my '06 GT 'vert any day now. I ordered it, on the X plan, from Beechmont Ford in Cincinnati, Ohio. So far they really seem like a straight up dealership.. If you do contact them, ask for Terry Reeves (aka "Beefcake"). I don't think you'll do any better.

Thanks alot for the info so far guys keep it coming along with any other advice as i have never ordered a new vehicle, but i have bought plenty of them.

    Edit

I also am sad to find out that i think i can't get one on x plan anymore since the new family plan or whatever is out and it doesn't apply to new mustang, correct me if i am wrong.

    Plan

If you can get an X plan pin you CAN get it if you can find a dealer that will honor it-the X plan is different from the family plan.
