Mirror paint

    Has anyone ever repainted their mirrors that are black or the trim around the top of the doors. They are both faded and i want to bring them back to life, let me know what you have done and what paint to use.

    I had mine repainted when my car was painted, so I really don't have any good advice!

    I did the trim and mirrors on my coupe with plain old krylon and it looks good.

    Get any spray paint that is SATIN black, dont get flat black as it tends to be very chalky.

    Duplicolor makes "Trim Paint"...in a hunter green can with the satin black top...AMAZING stuff...perfect match and great durability...i did the moulding under the windows and will use it for everything else too....also worked great on the wiper arms

    Was just about to post that iwashmycar! Redid all of my trim with that paint and I was very impressed. Dries really smooth, just do 2-3 light coats. Dries very quick to. Highly recommend this paint.

    is it just a simple spray over job or should you sand down the existing paint a bit so it'll stick real nice?

    Definately sand the surface first. You can use a red Scotch Brite pad for this. It will put enough scratch in the surface, and gets into the nooks & crannies.

    sweet. just painting over didn't exactly sound right to me, but i know nothing of paint and its magicaly properties
