I know something is forged in the bottom end, maybe its the pistons? There was a 4.0 tech file on here if you search for it, its in PDF format. I got to run to the post office so i cant check right now :)

    Hey Crag,

Here is an article of a break down analysis that Super Six Motorsports did on the 4.0L

    http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/pdf/40SOHCTech.pdf

scrming asked Lidio from Alernative Auto about some of the information contained in the article and he wasn't real worried about the 4.0's strength. We can check with PowerSurge and PowerHouse what they think.

    Jenn

(I'm at work and a little busy to paraphrase. LOL. Give it a read)

If Lidio didn't believe the 4.0 could handle the 75HP shot from the Zex kit he would point blank tell me so and probably refuse to even put my car on the dyno!

I had Nitrous on my 67 Camaro way back when and in my haste i used CAST pistons in the build... BAD decision.. first time i REALLY gave it some juice over a 75 shot and it was gooey. :( While the crank was forged, the pistons just couldn't handle it.

I'm VERY interested in Nitrous or an SC.. just haven't decided which one.. if i do Nitrous, i'll do it sooner as opposed to later just because I know with just a little more juice i can smoke a few of the SN95 Gts around here. :)

The SC is very appealing too, but out of my price range atm.. specially after putting my down payment on the Stang.. but hey, nice payments. :)

Yeah, i was really considering an S/C unit too... but was kind of choking on the price... for around $900 I dropped about a second off my 1/4 mile time... At first I was kind of disappointed with my 14.00... until I started looking at the 1/4 times for some other cars.. the 2004 GT is listed at 14.7... and the 300HP 2003 Mach 1 is listed at 14.0... And of course the nice thing with the Zex is you don't know I have it unless I pssssst.... pssssst... it... LOL! No fog lights... single exhaust... oh, it's only the V6... hehehehehe....

just fyi, ive seen a bone stock mach 1 run 13.2 lol, and ive read about some posting 13.05 and 13.08 in that range as well as the GT running low 14's (high 14s for the auto).

But ya, i think imma order some zex ;) Just the thought of running 14 flat with my car is nice enough, especially with a stock intake and stock exhaust..

If anything ill just put a gt take off, just wait for the day my neighbor installs aftermarket on his gt, and ask him if i can buy his exhaust lol, no shipping and probably even cheaper.

I just switched my insurance today, so ill be saving $800 a year (plus i have more coverage). so ill be gettin more and more goodies.

    John,

I meant check with PW & PH about other induction option. LOL... Wow, someone got you jumpy, my friend? :p

I didn't clarify that. I meant...PS & PH are doing other things like TT and SC and we can check with their set-ups to see what kind of internal modifications are needed to support those platforms. :nice:

I WUB YOU JOHN... No offense intended, my friend. :hail2:

oops!!!! I'm bad... I forgot the "LOL!!!" I didn't take any offense at all! Sorry you took it that way!!!

What I did mean was Lidio is very cautious... When he reviewed the supersix article he pointed out some flaws in their analysis... Bascially they are just behind the times... I trust Lidio 100% with my car...

Nitrous wasn't even on my list... but dang... for the price/performance it's hard to ignore! And this Zex setup make it relatively safe! LOL!

Again... I wasn't the least bit phased by your comments... I take my V6 to car shows... I now have incredibly THICK SKIN! LOL!! LOL!!
