I have 2 Audiobahn AW1051T 10" 300 w R.M.S. subs and the company I bought them from recommends their MTX 8302 amp to power them. Anyone have experience with MTX amps, good or bad? Anyone recommend a different amp for my subs?
I have an MTX amp, and I love mine. It's underrated by about 75%, and it's been rock solid for the last 4 years. I'm not sure about their new line, but they usually underrate their products. If you want another recommendation for a good amp, I'd say a JBL BP600.1 or a Hifonics Brutus 1000D should be fine for them. There's a couple others I can't think of off the top of my head.
I have a RT202 with my 2 MTX 10" subs. I was able to his 143.8 spl at the one and only comp I went to. Its not fantastic, but I was happy considering I didn't buy it for comp. The bad part is, when I first installed it, it had to be replaced due to being a bad unit, and then about 6 months later, it went bad. The good news is that MTX stood behind it as well as the stereo place. Good Luck
I have the 8302 and it has been great! Never blown a fuse, or shorted out in the past 2yrs or so I've had it Glad I got the 5-yr warranty from CircuitCity on it
I have had 2 mtx amplifiers and they both were great. I had a 200 watt one powering my mids and highs and a 350 watt mono one powering my audiobahns, it sounded great. I recommend a mono one for the subs. I also had the jbl 600.1 and it puts out plenty of clean power and none of them overheat.
I had a 6500D amp on 2 Infinity Perfect 12s a while back, and it was a fine amp until it blew (still not sure if the amp blew, and killed the speakers, or if the speakers blew the amp...). I took it down to MTX (they're here in Phoenix) and they had it fixed for me in about 3 days. Ended up getting stolen after that, but it was working fine up to that point.
