I just bought a 1999 S/C GT (automatic), car runs great all that. Well today the day after I buy it I wash it and take it for a drive everythings fine. (notice my tranny temp gets close to 200 though) ANYWAYS... I go see War of the Worlds with my folks come back get in my car to leave to head home. It will NOT start!!!!! I turn the key 1/2 on postion all the little lights on the cluster come on, etc and the radio all that works, just it won't start. I hear the (I think) fuel pumps or just some little sound, but no buzzing clicking or anything. Hooked my dads truck to it to jump start it, still nothing no buzz or click just like it was before. Take the battery completly out get it checked...battery is fine! So come back to the car and see a little plastic key thingee in the floor its a "SILENCER" (I think a brand of security system, like a kill switch) . I plug it back in to its slot under the dash...still nothing. Car ran perfct, started perfect everything, till now....it just won't crank. WHAT IN THE HECK CAN THIS BE? Does it have something to do with the "kill switch" I found or what stupid little thing can it be? Maybe unhooking the battery crewed up some anti-theft thing or something. Please any ideas? I am carless on the worst freaking weekend to be!!! Ohh on top of of this mystery....We put the car in neutral to move it to hook it up to get jump started, well as we're moving it in the garage my dad stops the car puts in park to move something out of the way. Well now the car won't go into neutral..... :cryying: :cryying: :cryying:
I had this problem too cause of the fuel cut off switch. I had another problem similiar to it and i push started it.
Sound like something to do with either the ford security system or some aftermarket one that someone may have put on it. Is the theft light blinking? Does it have an aftermarket alarm?
This is what I am thinking....and yeah the "theft" light blinks. It also has a "SILENCER" anti-teft kill switch, which is what got knocked out. So I thought duh here is the problem, but I hooked it back up and no strat still. I think I may try plugging it in then hooking the battery up cause I hooked the battery up before I plugged it back in and maybe the car didn't "learn" it was there.
You need to tow your car to the dealership and get key programmed. You might beable to program it your self go here ---> http://www.fordf150.net/howto/patskey.php
If the theft light is blinking its a done deal, tow it to ford and have them reprogram the keys. Quick, easy and cheap...same thing happened to me a few months ago. Car was fine one minute, then it wouldnt turn over at all, same symptoms that you are having. Ended up my aftermarket alarm screwed up the ford alarm and the car locked up. I had to have a new transciever (sp) installed and all the keys reprogrammed for like $250.00. Good luck, but I am almost sure thats the problem. Ford can fix it, just have to wait til tuesday
Check the fuel cut off switch, that may be the problem. Also maybe you didnt learn this or not but some aftermarket alarms require you to hit the unlock button on the keypad just before starting. If those dont work, you may very well need to reprogram the keys.
Did you buy it from the dealer? If not talk to the guy you bought it from. I have seen that theft light flash before off and on. I hope mine don't do that sometime. Does anyone know what someone has to do to get that theft system to sut the fuel?
Big help I'm gonna try to trace down the aftermarket harness and see exactly where it leads maybe unplug it. But, yeah between the card getting knocked out of the aftermarket kill thingee, the battery being disconnected, and the "theft" flashing it has to do with this.
Well after looking at the old post, not sure we are in the same boat. My car doesn't do anything when you turn the igntion besides the dash turning on and the radio coming on and I can hear the fule pumps, but no clicking or buzzing.
