Hey all--

This next February I'm planning on doing a complete stereo revamp in my car, ripping everything out, (stock 460) and building up completely.

As part of this, I want to put in a GPS Navagation system.
Well, the stereo is sunken back from in the dash from where the Temperature controls are, so a head unit with a flip up monitor will hit the control area and not fully open. (or worse, break the unit).

How bad is it behind the dash where the controls are? what is the possibility of relocating the temperature controls to one of the DINs where the radio is now, and installing the swing up monitor where they controls are?
Is there enough room, if there is, is the hole the right size? looks right... if so, what kind of mounting bracket do I need to fab to get it to fit?

Are there any other solutions that anyone has that don't look overly gaudy or can be hidden easily? I don't want the monitor to just sit on the dash all the time. I also don't want an overhead... I want something that I can close down to look really clean when I'm not using the NAV.

Thanks!!
