My daughter has a 94 3.8L and announced that she wants a CAI for her car. SOOOO, I started to look for one. There are 2, ones for 170.00 and ones for 70.00. The latter does not appear to have the mounting part for the MAF, I assume you have to use the old one. I am not planning on tuning her car, maybe just dress up the compartment some. What do you think? The cheaper one is located at mustangtuning.com thanks
even cheaper ones on eBay... not sure if they contain all the parts you will need (i dont have one, but someone else may be able to fill you in), just make sure you go with a K&N filter
ive got one from mustangtuning.com, it comes with everything you need, fits great, looks great, easy to install, it even comes with a reusable filter
did you Did you have to mod some of the origional equipment to make it work?\\ Is this what you got?? http://www.mustangtuning.com/94-98-v6-cold-air-intake.html
from that picture.. everythings there u just might have a lil trouble getting under the fender to put on the filter. I had some trouble with my 2000 but it shouldnt be that bad
no mods, and thats the same thing i received in the mail. to put the filter in place i took off the front passenger wheel and wheel well guard plastic thing, poked the pipe through the hole up top and clamped down the filter from underneath. not too bad if you have a hydraulic jack, or you can use the spare tire jack. make sure you dont tighten the bolts where it connects to the maf too tight, one of the corners bent in a little on mine cuz i got overzealous with the socket. everything fit great though. also dont tighten all the clamps until its in its final resting place. good luck.
I bought the same type of CAI off of ebay just in red, for some $35. It's not the best out there, youll have to trim a little of the pipe off that goes into the throttle body so the piping wont rub against the fender, as for installation i had the remove the MAF from the housing, then bolted the filter on, stuck it down in the hole then bolted the maf onto it, shoudl be done is less than an hour, the only tricky part it removing the clips/gromets from the housing. PS, the breather hole fits fine, but the hole that the sensor goes into is a whole different story.
