I have a stick shift yellow 1995 mustang GT thats pretty much stock when it comes to the engine. I bought it about 4 months ago and havent been able to drive it much cause of the winter in michigan. The winter is almost over now and i deffinitly cant wait because im gonna do a few things to the car. I plan on puttin some new 18" chrome saleens on it from americanmuscle.com and thats all i plan on doin for the looks so far. Then i would like to put an off road x pipe and maybe some flowmasters or slp's on it but not completely sure. I also plan on putting some 373 gears on it cause ive heard that can increase ur 1/4 mile time significantly and its pretty cheap (around 200$). Other than the rims that i know im putting on, what should i do to it performance wise that would be cheap and easy??? The gears are cheap but the exhaust isnt really even know i want it really badly

Like I said before....You'll want some 1.5" drop springs, if you go beyond that you'll have to get some caster/camber plates to fix your alignment, unless you don't mind the huge wheel gap :) I've lived with mine for 9 years. H or X pipe after that. If you have a buddy that has the know-how to do a ring/pinion install, then I'd get some 3.55s or 3.73s....we have 2.73s stock in our car and 3.55s are supposed to be ideal for a 5 speed 5.0L. Having a shop do them will run you 150-250 dollars though. Under drive pulleys are a good investment too cause they're cheap and produce decent power. What kind of budget are you looking at and what are your ultimate goals for the car??

Well i dont really know what my budget is to be honest...This is actually my second car. Im only a senior in high school and i havent even completely paid off my car yet. I have another piece of **** right now that i was using for the winter thats a white 95 eagle vision with purple front bumper and fender and it has 180,000 miles on it. Im puttin that up on craigslist pretty soon here for probably $500. Once i get that ill be able to pay off my car and whatever i can make over the summer is hopefully enough to be able to do what i want to the stang. My goals are deffinitly some 18 saleen rims...and i also what exhaust really badly. id say those are the 2 most important things to me. I was talkin to one of my buddies the other day that use to have an 03 GT and he told me i should get some CAI cause it will give me a decent HP increase for the price. I was lookin at the CAI on americanmuscle.com for only 90 bucks:nice:...I could probably do that right now...not sure if its worth it though...

First of all KEEP your daily driver! Once you start seriously modding your mustang you won't want to have to daily drive it...

Secondly I would recommend 3.73's, if you're going to do gears you mine as well go all the way...

Where in Michigan are you from?

First off, don't even bother getting cool wheels if you aren't going to lower it. It's gonna look like garbage and like you think you are some kind of ghetto pimp.:rlaugh:

Second, go with 3.73s. Don't waste your time and money with 3.55s because it isn't going to be that crazy of a difference especially if your car already has 3:08s, which it may.

Third, don't believe all the hype about "this cai will give you 10-15 hp" blah blah blah. You will notice ZERO difference after purchasing the overpriced glorified chrome pipe. Do yourself a favor and go snag a K&N at the auto store and build your own cai. Cost ya less and you won't have a chrome tube sticking out like a sore thumb in what I assume isn't a perfectly shiny engine bay.

Just realize that the smaller mods that you are looking into doing in the coming months (cai, underdrive pulleys, x/h pipe etc) on their own will likely yield you next to no seat of the pants power. Do yourself a favor and throw on all three in one day and you will likely be smiling.

As far as I am concerned if you were to get your saleens, lowering springs, cai, underdrives, an x or h pipe, and 3.73s, you would be in pretty awesome shape. :nice:

CAI---$50 one from Ebay---gain....nearly zero. Cool sound, though.

Off road H pipe...$50-$100 Ebay (again)---gain...also, not much. VERY cool sound, though.

Cat back exhaust...$150, or so from Jeg's---gain...more cool sounds.

Underdrive pulleys...$100 Jegs or Ebay---gain 10-15hp(maybe)...battery might not charge, car may not stay cool in the Summer.

Gears---$350-$500, depending on source for parts/labor (Some Explorers came with 3.73's from the factory so you can find them in the JY.)---gain ET improvement (big, from what I'm told)

Other stuff might be cool, too. Check the Classifieds here for springs, shocks/struts, wheels/tires, etc. It's all about making the car "yours".

That should keep you busy for a little while. ;)

    Welcome to Stangership!
