well the other day i got home from work and i smelled burnt wiring comeing from my stang, so i popped the hood and my ecm was smoking, kinda strange because the car ran exactly as it had been running before and after that day it hasn't done it again, still i'm worried the i'll get stranded somewhere so i'm trying to find a used but working ecm to keep in the car just in case if anyone has heard of this happening before let me have your thoughts on it and also if anyone has an ecm for sale, i live in central FL. 93, 5speed coupe, 2.3L ford part # on it- F1ZF-12B577-AA
if the smoke was coming from under the hood it was the ircm/ccrm. was the item mounted on the passenger strut tower? The ecm is located behind the passenger kickpanel
yep that's where it was, it had a large wiring harness hooked to it, thought it was the main harness so i figured ecm, guess i figured wrong..... do you know where to get one cheap? i don't care if it's used or a reman, just as long as it works
i have the computer from my 88 Ranger 2.3, also wiring harnesses, etc. Mustang281@pennswoods.net i have everything but the head/cam for sale
