Alright guys got a major problem!!!
I went through my car and fixed all the buggered wiring and yesterday got me a la3 pcm i put it in and the car seem to run fine for a little bit at idle but at about 1500 t0 2000 rpm and would fall on it's face.
I thought it might have been the module on the dist. cause when i went to adjust timing the car would die out when i touched the side of the module the car died out so i tried swapping out modules but no start.

Well i went back out this morning and played with it some and still nothing but when the key is in the accy position the fuel injector are pulsing i have a selinoid going off near the passenger firewall under the hood and a relay under the drivers seat buzzing that is with la3 pcm and will try to start i put the original pcm back in and nothing no spark to the coil.

I'm thinking i fried the little brain box on the firewall which i think is my durasapark module so what i'm thinking seeing how 88'tbc don't have it and it's in the coputer i need to change some wiring some where!!!!

Is there a difference in wiring?? If so does anybody here have that?
Also this guy had a superchip installed and i'm assuming this is why the plug coming off of the dist. module the wire are all black and are spliced into the regular wires that would go in to that plug also eliminating the spout connector.
Also what do i need to do to get rid of the boxes and clean up the wiring more under the hood???

Are you ever gonna tell us what computer you were running before you installed the LA3? I believe I've asked 3 times now.

The superchip has nothing to do with ANY wiring (as I've stated before...yesterday).

    E4ZF-12A650-D1A
    EEC-IV EFI-TC
I'm assuming it's the original pcm I went to turbo ford and found a write up there is some wires you have to swap but no metioning of the duraspark system..

I thought you said in the other thread that it seemed to run fine without repinning?

Relay box is what is buzzing as you mentioned above...

I know I'm walking in on what seems like half the picture, but if this was an LA3 swap into an 84 SVO, why didn't you pin it properly in the first place. I know you are in a bad way right now, not having your car running, but for the pita it can be getting the ECU out and back in, why didn't you just change the wires? It would have added 5 minutes to the job... The car was falling on it's face because the VAM was getting a temp signal instead of air flow. I'd have to look at the wire diagrams again, but that car must have thought the world turned inside out.

When people post tech articles about this kind of stuff you should take them to heart. It's not because we are bored... ok maybe a little.

To be honest with you i thought that seeing how it was turbo that i would not have to do any mods!!! I was also a little anxious and just wanted to get this thing running right so i could of went to see my daughter today.

Most of the threads i read are about turbos into 87's or better!!

    Stinger!!
Yes it was running good but like i said it would fall on it's face at about 1500 to 2,000 rpm Then when i had come back from my so-called drive thats when she said no more. I also swapped out the relay under the seat and same thing
now isn't there away to bypass the duraspark now that i have a later puter that doesn't require it??
I didn't see nothing like that in the turbo coupe!!!

By what a friend of mine told me and the haynes manual it says the silver box on the passenger fender well is a duraspark ignition system there was duraspark, duraspark II then later the tfi.
A buddy of mine said that that was pretty popular back in the day for racing something to do with points.

It's been awhile since ive worked on cars especially anything below late 80's.

Your 89 didn't come with duraspark though...it came with a tfi module.

I realize that but my svo has it!!
But i pulled the harness out of my svo and my scrap 89' just going to wire it update and start over so i know what i have in the car and under the hood.
Got them both on the kitchen table w/alot of electrical tape and loom. If it looks to complicated then i'll go to the jy and pull the turbo coupe one.

    Wiring problem

Have you been to the turbo ford site and checked the directions for the repin?? I did a swap into my '89 and I had to pin one wire for the temp on the VAM. The other wires for the VAM were on the '89 motor EGR valve. I am running a LA3 on mine and it goes like crazy. If you are dealing with the old duraspark, it has gotta go and put in a TFI and harness for your newer model! :flag: :flag: :flag:
