a friend of a friend owns this mustang, he bought it off a buddy and has done nothing with it in 3 years, he is now willing to sell it to me for 2,500.00 ... I went to look at it yesterday, it started right up with a jump and a shot of starting fluid and sounded good, it is a numbers matching car but a michigan car. the worst things seem to be the hood and bumpers, there is some body rust, the interior is not to bad. my one buddy owned it a few years back and said with some new tires you could drive it while starting the rebuilding process. I know the mechanical side but no nothing about body work, i have seen that parts for this car are cheap.. any ideas if this car would be worth have a shop redo the body, i would stick my own hood and bumpers on and maybe a few things, oh and the trunck panel is shot, did not get a good look at the under side but am guessing it should be redone.. I will follow with picks but any idea what it would cost to get the body done and painted.. beatnic, would it be better to buy a redone car, or what about buying it for 2,500 and clean it up, redo as much as possible and selling it...

well, its really hard to say from those pics...obviously its pretty rough, but with out looking under the car at the floors, checking the cowl, etc....its hard to say how bad it really is.

The best advice I can give you is to buy the most rust free car you can find, the mechanical stuff is easy and cheap compared to dealing with rust.
