I took out my shifter today to add some tranny fluid that leaked out. I didnt have a pump readily available so i just took out the fill plug took off the shifter and put tranny fluid in till it came out the fill plug. Worked good, but now i got another problem. I cant get the shifter back on the tranny. I forget exactly how it went together. Stock shifter i believe. There are 2 springs that i took out with the shifter and im not exactly sure where they went. I tried putting them in the slots in the tranny but that makes it damn near impossible to bolt the shifter down. Then i tried to put them on top of the "nipples" on the shifter and bolt it down, that didnt work either. I tried looking for diagrams but no luck on that yet. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone.
no springs in the stock shifter... were the springs in the transmission or in the shifter? when i put in my MGW, the stock shifter had no springs, nor were there any springs visible anywhere in the transmission.
