Everyone and their mother has been raving about the Mr. Clean Autodry. So I broke down and bought one (thinking nothing can be better than doing the actual wash and then the fun-esque of drying witha towel), however, the damn thing leaves soap marks EVERYWHERE. I mean it looks great from far away (mind you I have a black car) but you get up close, you see these rainbow color streaks everywhere. I have done this twice now and it has done it both times...WHY?

Here are my steps for washing the car (Let me know if I am doing something wrong here):

    • Rinse car without AutoDry
    • Soap car with normal car soap (no AutoDry)
    • Rinse car w/ no AutoDry
    • Rinse car again, WITH AutoDry
    • Soap Car w/ AutoDry
    • Rinse w/ AutoDry
    • Final step on AutoDry (I don't know what it is called, the drying **** that is sprayed everywhere)

It did that to me one time, I was so pissed off, it was all over my windows, paint, everywhere. I had to wash my car like three times to get it all off. But I think I know what I did wrong that day. You know when you get that soap (the green autodry soap) on your fingers, your fingers are sticky for a long time, even if you wash them off right away. Well I normally take some of that autodry soap and put it in the bottom of a bucket, fill the bucket up with water, and then use a sponge with that water to wash off the car. Well one time, I threw the sponge in the bucket first, then put the soap and water in the bucket, and my car turned out with tons of rainbows. I think the problem was the sponge got the soap directly on it, and then it smeared all over the car (just like it would on your fingers). I was so pissed off that day, anyway something like that may have been the problem.
