Thinking about buying this mustang for $6,300. Any second opinions would be appreciated.

    - 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe
    - street heat suspension kit installed
    - fiberglass hood and front apron
    - engine is a 289 v8 with an electronic ignition
    - 3 speed manual transmission
    - floor pans have been replaced with new ones
    - original brakes

As far as I can tell the two rear quarter panels have been replaced. The repaint job is decent 10 feet away but could use repainting with some bondo to fill in some imperfections. I believe this use to be a six cylinder car. This 289 runs pretty good and starts great, but smokes a little white smoke an also has a slight ticking sound coming from the right side of motor

    VIN Number: 5r07c125466

So what do you think??? Good or bad investment!

as long as the cowl is solid, i dont think you can go wrong... the three speed is the killer.

Yeah but a four speed should bolt right in.

If that vin # is correct it was a 289 car. The c stands for 2bbl 289. If it used to be a I6 the code would be T.

    Correct!

Looks pretty good. If the floors have been replaced, the cowl is probably rusted. Get underneath and look up under the dash at the vent hats. Ask the owner if he'll let you dump some water in the cowl vent grill just in front of the windshield.
Here is a picture of what the cowl MAY look like under the cover:

Look up under dash for this:

If it leaks, you'll just end up redoing your floors at a later time.

Thank you all for your advice!!! It would be a cool winter project to keep me busy. Will see if he comes down on the price a little.

Where you live in Arkansas? Just wondered. I used to have one that looked just like it in Mena, Arkansas. Kerry
