I went out to KCIR last night. It was a hot night, and the density altitude was about 3500ft. Not good for making power or good times. Still, I shattered my previous best and broke into the 13s for the first time. I ran a 13.73@99mph. The 60' time was pretty good on that run, with 2.006. It felt MEAN and that's still on street tires. The track was well prepped and it transfered weight nicely. My dad ran his 06 GT through it's paces too. It was a bit disappointing at 14.6's at 95mph. We are a little wondering if there was something wrong with it, but I also know the heat will kill your times.
To say it's going smoothly would be a gross overstatement. It took me since april to actaully get the car to the track, and it had a problem that left me stuck on the return road for a bit. haha. Some of my electrical tape came off, and 2 wires for the vam were shorting out and making the car not run.. and it would show up on right turns for some reason. It took several weeks of scratching my head, and a dead car at the track wed to finally find the problem. Anyway, I love the car (for the moment). The best 60' time was 2.006 and I didn't feel any tire slip even then. The tires were just nearly bald factory goodyears from an 03-04 GT, so the track prep was great. I'm still a bit amazed by that 2.0 60'. It felt stronger than I expected and I can imagine a 1.9 to be a bit violent. When I ran my 97GT, it only got 2.1 or 2.2s as I recall (14.6@94mph), and certainly these kind of 60' times arn't possible on the street with regular radials. Anyway, I think I'm hooked. Just need to wait for the weather to turn nice this fall, and go for broke. I wonder how quick a 60' my poor 7.5 will take? At least automatics are usually nicer to the driveline. hehe
