Hi everyone, I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to get my feet wet and jump in. About a month and a half ago I ordered my first Mustang. (Yes, a real newbie!) I ordered a 05 Mustang GT in Redfire. I've always wanted a Mustang and decided it was time! I recently inherited a 79 Vette (21,000 original miles) from my dad. That's become my husbands "baby". (It's a manual trans. and I don't know how to drive a stick) Someday I guess I'll learn but for now I'll have my Mustang.

Since I placed my order I found this website and have been on it ever since (need that Mustang fix on a daily basis it seems :) ) Still no word from my dealer as to when my new baby will arive. I stopped in the other day to check but they have not even gotten a vin number yet. The waiting is KILLING me!

As my ID implies I'm from New Jersey. It seems like Jersey will be the last state in the union to see a GT. Any dealerships in my area that I've gone to are lucky if they have one V6 on the lot. I've been scanning the roads to see if I just might have a Stang sighting.....but no luck :(

Is there anyone out there from Jersey and if so.....did you get your car yet? I feel like a 2 year old waiting for Christmas morning. Someone please tell me that Jersey is getting GT's!!!

Welcome to the boards jerseygirl. Maybe Ford forgot about New Jersey and sent all their '05 GTs here in upstate NY. I've seen several up here but no V6 yet.

Welcome! I'm interested in how shorter people react to these cars since everything is so tall.....Nice but Tall. I couldn't hang my arm out the window and it seemed wierd. So I'd like to hear from the females.

Welcome to the site. Congrats on your order and I think it will be nice to have a females point of view on these boards. :nice: As far as your car goes, I know it is hard to wait, but patience is a virtue. But I bet when you get it you will be doing this  non-stop.

ttown, well, at 5'3" I guess shorter people would apply to me. I've had the opportunity to sit in a V6 and loved it. I didn't feel at all uncomfortable but I'm useto driving a Chevy Tahoe. I need the running board step to get into my truck.

Mr_dcj2001 you're right.....patience is a virtue, I guess I just need more virtue then :nice: The dealer told me when I placed my order the end of Sept. that it could be the mid to end of Dec. before I got my car. So in the mean time I'll just have to hang out here and admire everyone elses cars! I promise pics when my does come....

I live in New Jersey and I have been to 2 dealerships that have GTs: Malouf Ford in New Brunswick area has a Silver GT w/ 5spd manual. Capital City Ford in Lawerenceville has a GT w/ Auto Tranny and a GT w/ Manual Tranny.

i test drove the 2nd V6 Mustang to hit Manahawkin's Causeway Ford, 1st was sold within 3 hours of being on the lot. They just got in a black GT, but it was sold before it even came off the delivery truck. They have no idea when they will get more GTs or any more literatre... they're fresh out =\

I'm also trying to find someone locally who wants to have their car upgraded with a custom shift kit and torque converter, which could knock off 3-4 tenths...and a possible feature in Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords...

Congrats, you'll love the mustang! I can't wait to get my new one.

One thing i noticed is that the seatbelt is waaaaay farther back in the '05. I actually have to turn around to grab it.

Jerseygirl, buying a GT with an auto transmission should be a sin :D Get your husband to teach you to drive a stick!!! Nothing is more fun than lighting up some tires and pounding gears in a badass ride!

I bought my '65 coupe when I was 18. One of the features that I had to have in the car was a manual tranny. The only downside to that was that I did not know how to drive a standard  I just could not buy my dream car, packing a V8, that was backed by an auto tranny. It just didn't seem right.

My '65 was purchased in the late fall and immediatly went into storage for the winter (seeing my baby in the garage made the winter go by even slower). That early spring my dad attempted to teach me to drive a standard using his toyota pickup. I would get out of 1st maybe 1 out of 20 trys if I was lucky. I just couldn't get it! My dad eventually gave up on me :D Finally, the nice weather hits and it is time to get the Mustang out of the garage. I still cannot drive a standard that well yet, so I hop in my Mustang and tell my brother to get in the car and teach me how to drive a standard. After a few hours, I had it down. The sad part of the story is that my brother was 13 at the time!!! My dad had taught him how to drive his truck the summer before so he couldd give him a hand moving lumber around in the back yard.

    later,

    Chris

Hey Chris, I know, I know, every guy I know has told me the same thing. Maybe in the spring I'll get the hubby to teach me to drive a stick. I'm afraid to learn on the Vette though. It's in mint condition, wouldn't want to do any damage to it!
