Was looking over a new Mustang maybe 08 the guy came out I said looks sharp how do you like it ? he said it was OK .............then he started it up it sounded bad.. a funny chinzy type of metalic noise ? it was an 8 the exhaust was fine not loud just the spinning of the motor when he turned the key it didnt sound like a Mustang ? do these new 3 valve motors have problems ???
no No it didnt sound like that , this was a tinny like sound like the old dodge slant 6 would make when they started .......
The sound of an old slant 6 is probably piston slap from a loose bore. That engine had an inherint problem with cylinder wear from the design. As for the 05+ mustangs, nope, I don't know of any common engine problems.
I think it's just the way the exhaust is set up with the mufflers being pushed so much closer to the rear. I've read a couple of times where newer GT owners were lookin for the previous gen sound outta their cars. I guess that's the one thing we still have over them lol.
The 96-04 era cars sound the best to me, especially 4v cars. I also love a nice fox with h and flows. The fox sound is where my love for the Mustang came from.
