    hey fellas,

I'm usually lurking over in the classic side, and I'm kinda new to this side of the forums, although I've got a buddy with a pretty damn nice 06GT that we like to work on.

    anyway......

I've been wondering for a while if it's possible to fit a new 5 spd. Auto transmission into my 68 coupe. I was wondering if someone could point me toward some literature on the transmissions you guys have? I'm curious if there's a company out there that makes a conversion,( like keisler ) for the auto...I know, i know, most of you would go for the manual, but I want to stick with the auto. lol, it would surprise someone who thought it was just a C-4 under there!

    thanks guys.

Short answer is NO it is not possible.

Long answer is YES anything is possible with enough time and money$$$. The 4.6L has a different bolt pattern vs. 302/351. The transmission you are asking about 5R55S relies HEAVILY on electronics - for example you will need a controller to tell it how to shift - most of that is all integrated along with other functions for the car and I do not know of a stand alone controller for it. If you really want the transmission, it is probably easier to do a MII conversion and put the 4.6L 3v in front of it.
