So a few weeks ago i picked up a AOD hatch for cheap, its painfully slow, but runs great, no rust, and the interior is pretty decent. I picked up the truck 2 days ago, the thing is sick, yea its a 6.0, before you say it, i know, they have issues. Truck has 60k on it and i opted to get a bumper to bumper warrantee that covers me to 100k miles. And i also learned that my local ford dealer puts Banks stuff on, while still retaining the warrantee... Can you say 6 gun
Congrats bud! Although IMO I would shy away from mods on that truck. I heard rumors (I can't assure you they are true) that the 6.0 when cared for and kept stock seem fine, but when modded are very quick, but fall apart fast. I could be wrong though, been a long time since I did my diesel research! What are the plans for the hatch?
Nice truck, what year is it? Mostly the 03 and 04's had the problems and they faded away a bit in the later years. EGR delete yesterday would be a good start. Get a programmer and exhaust and we'll run our trucks haha.
Thanks, im planning on towing the notch with it this summer, the colors almost match, so its gonna look BA rolling down the highway. I think ford should throw me a couple bones as some kind of sponsorship Thats the plan, got a stock hood and a friend with ponies with good tires that wants to trade plus 100 bucks Plan is to fix minor stuff on the hatch, most of which is already done, and make some money on it. From what ive read, the two problems with these trucks are TTY head bolts and the EGR, my plan is to put 6 gun on the truck and get the head gaskets to blow before 100k, my buddy is a ford tech and told me that if i supply the ARP headstuds, the dealer will put them on and fix it under warrantee. I would delete the EGR, but that means im F'ed on the warrantee, so at 100,001 miles that will be the first thing i do. I think we should race to the track, with both of our cars, first one off the trailer making a 10 second pass wins a dollar. And yea i got the tails on, sorta, i took the LX ones from the notch, and put them on that car cause the ones i bought from you were nicer that what i had
Oh come on, mine always breaks. I'll just keep the pedal down I guess thats generally what I do anyways lol. We'll deff have to go next year. This year was kinda a pain trying to get it dialed in, should be ok for next year. Prob gonna lean on that bottom end a little harder
they 6.0's have been out long enough that any issues they had in the past are likely to be rectified now, and you have a warranty, and since the dealer will put banks stuff on while retaining a warranty i would look into them installing head studs as well
That hatch is actually pretty nice. Lose the running boards on the truck and put some 305s on it. Or is it 2wd?? Looks pretty low in the pictures and I don't see hubs on the front... The same seems true for 6.0s. Hammer the **** out of it and it might stay together. Now that's some funny ****.
Looks like you scored two nice rides man! Every time you start that truck an undiscovered species in the rainforest goes extinct forever, and won't reveal its potential cures to medical science. I like it, a lot. That hatch could be flipped for some cash easily if you put some elbow grease into it too.
Thanks, and yea Al ****in Gore already called me and said that between my notch and my new truck ive put manbearpig into extinction
uhm ok? if he bought if from a dealer all the warranty issues that gave the 6.0 its bad rep have likely to have been fixed, and seeing as how thats a 05+ model it should have less problems than the 03/04's did
no dealer is just gonna fix something for nothing, i agree that the 03/04's are worse, but its a roll of the dice with these motors. Hence me buying the extra warrantee. I've been told that if you beat the hell out of these trucks they like it, the babied ones are the ones that have all the problems. I got my OASIS report and the truck has had the turbo serviced once and the EGR replaced once. Thats all. Basically 80% of the problems with the 6.0 stem from junk emissions laws, and ford trying to make lots of tq while keeping the tree hugging hmo's happy
I agree on the beating it part. Honestly you prob should run it hard sometimes. My dad drives his at about 14 mph everywhere. When it turned 8,000 miles it needed a turbo. The truck is a 05. He used to never drive it so I've been making him drive it to work once or twice a week.
my buddy George(the ford tech), told me to drive it like i stole it! NO PROBLEM. Gotta keep that soot out of that JUNK EGR valve. What gets me is that these eco friendly people are trying to save the world putting all this emissions crap on vehicles, but all the emissions stuff does it make the trucks ineffiecient, which makes them get less MPG, and they cost more to serivce, so whos really winning here?
The process that removes sulfur content from diesel fuel also lowers the energy content in the process, making combustion less efficient and slightly reducing gas mileage. Basically, less BTU of energy can be extracted from a gallon of ULSD than the same amount of standard diesel fuel. All diesel vehicles after 2007 are designed to run specifically on ULSD (ultra low sulfur diesel) fuels, possessing less than 15 parts-per-million (ppm) sulfur. People who **** about sulfur content in diesel fuels adding to acid rain problems should do some research and know that the government standard for ppm sulfur in standard gasoline is 40 ppm average, with an upper limit of 80 ppm allowable from large domestic refineries and imports. Sorry to get all technical on your thread, but I do this stuff for a living. Long story short, diesel isn't as dirty as some misinformed people think it is, and it's condescending when those same people who rally against diesel consumption drive up in a gasoline car that burns dirtier fuel.
