Sorry, but I hunted around for a thread or FAQ that would answer these basics, and came up empty, so I'm hoping somebody can quickly offer up the info that I need. Basic stuff:

My pops has a 2005 GT 5-sp MT. Rarely drives it, but anyhow, his only complaint is soggy and weak low-end-torque and throttle response. I told him it was probably just lame drive-by-wire mapping from the factory, and that a basic performance chip would totally change the car's sluggish personality.

    1. I'm right, right?
    2. I want to buy him a performance card/chip/prom/whatever for X-mas
    3. What product seems to be the overall preferred product on this forum?
    4. Where should I go to buy it?
    5. Is the access and installation a breeze, as they usually are? (Last one of these I've installed was on my '00 Lightning, I've go zero idea if the box and the process is different for these new Mustangs.

Thanks, and my apologies for being so clueless!! I can answer anything you want to know about old Mustangs! :D

JMS chips have a good deal on an Xcal2 and cold air intake combo.

I'm using their custom tuning program and "sluggish" is not how I describe it!:nice:

I'm sure you have lots of options.

I use the SCT XCal2 and it worked very well for me. Any hesitation present from the factory is completely gone.

    1. Yes. A tuner will get rid of the throttle lags built into the system
    2. Was that a question ;)
    3. The Diablosport Predator or SCT XcaII are yur best bets.
    4. Stangnet Partshopper has the Predators http://www.partshopper.com/shop/Diablo-Predator-2005-2006-Mustang-m6.html
    5. Install is a breeze. Sitting in the drivers seat you can download the stock tune into the unit and upload the "canned" performance tune into the car.

As the others have said the Predator or Xcal2 will both get rid of the lag that is present from the factory. If you want even more power get a Cold Air Intake as well to go along with the programmer. I am sure all the guys on this site could argue for years about which CAI is the best, but the C&L, JLT and Steeda all seem to give roughly the same gains. These two mods give a stock GT that extra "omph" that it doesn't quite have from the factory.
