MyBlueOval - I'm not sure what kind of cars you're used to driving, but there is no comparison between the 330 and the Mustang. Sure, the Mustang will offer up more hp, but quality of German engineering can't be beat. (And anybody who says Ford builds a car surpassing BMW quality has spent too much time in the sun with the top down!)

Personally, I'm in Los Angeles looking for the replacement for my '02 BMW 3-series coming due off its lease. If I go with the Mustang, it'll be primarily to save money. Sure the Stang is a sweet looking car, but this time next year when everybody and their mother is driving one, where's the novalty then?

I try to factor emotion out of it, otherwise I might end up doing something stupid like paying sticker when I've got X-Plan available to use. (That said, there isn't one Southern California dealer who is ready to talk to me about an '06 X-Plan order.) So, I'll probably lose out to supply vs. demand, but c'est la vie.

he may have order the gauge upgrade or something else that will take longer to get a build date

ps just becouse bmw can build more cars then people want to buy does not mean they will treat you better then ford

Gee, I guess that speaks highly for the huge horde of V6 Ponies just sitting on dealer lots in such large numbers across the U.S...

Also not sure what "treat you better than Ford" means. If it is dealership treatment, forget it, Ford loses to almost everybody in that respect. If it is quality of workmanship... well, that is also no contest.

Don't get me wrong, I think the GT is a great product. Nobody else has 300 hp with decent options for under 30k. But, for those who didn't get in on early ownership, Ford is doing themselves no favors in their treatment of us. Yup, supply and demand economics at it's finest, but at the end of the day, Ford needs to realize that people are going to buy a car from somebody and they'd be wise not to burn their bridges.

My sentiments exactly. Bottom line, the 3-series is one of the best selling cars in the USA because it has high build quality and low total cost of ownership. Ford cars don't hold their resale value. I won't pay more when I have an option to pay less for the same car. Will I pay more for a car that costs more because of better engineering and import tariffs (e.g. BMW), yes. I've been a loyal FLM customer but not for much longer the way things are going with the Mustang GT. I guess I could buy a V6 vert and get a dual exhaust and GT badges to disguise it. Nah...I'll get a BMW 330ci convertible instead. Yes, I'll pay more $$$ but I'll get more $$$ back down the road.

Ford has exactly one month from today (5/18) to get me a build date and delivery by July 1 or I'm jumping camps. "MyBlueOval" will morph into "MyBlueWhiteCheckerCircle". :D

BlueOval. i am sorry to say, but i can't get you a car. ford told us no more orders on any gt until 06. i appreciate what you said but the 05 gt's are gone, unless of course you find one on a lot.
why are there some on lots? because they sat on markup knowing this day will come.

Blue Oval-I don't blame you for being pissed. Ford has one car that is in demand and they act like this is the norm. They should look at their stock price for a reality check.

You might consider an 03 0r 04 330 vert. You can probably find an 03 for less than 40 K w/ the 100 k ext warranty. I have looked at 02's coming off lease, but the mileage is a bit high, and my 6'-5" frame doesn't fit as well as the stang and cost is an object w/ me.

The criticism about horsepower is true, but the 330 does 0-60 in about 6.5 sec.
    That's still pretty quick.

Shouldn't this advice be given to sales people. Who want us to spend over invoice?

yes, i've got a dora. no, not plan pricing. but i did get it at $1000 below sticker, which is why i'm reluctant to give up on the order and look elsewhere. i talked with the inventory mgr at the dealership yesterday, and he says it should be scheduled next week, so i guess i'll stick it out. [waiting impatiently!]

Except that I bought it used. 15k miles 3 years old and for just over $20k. Which happened to be less than $1k over what they gave the guy for it as trade in on a corvette. And the original asking price for it used was $26k.

I just got my VIN number from my dealer And I am pretty Happy. After hearing yellow go on about the plans and all, I was starting to get worried that I would have to get a different car Because I Can't wait for a '06. my dealer told me that they had to stop taking orders and cancel some because they can't get any more. I was one of the last 3 to get a GT through that dealer. I ordered mine X-Plan, priority 20, But here in Alberta I believe their bread and butter comes from truck sales, both fleet and Private. So they Probably don't wan't to **** anyone off even if it is a X-Plan The Dealer Is Freedom Ford Edmonton and so far they have been excellent. :nice:

I'm not saying my svt purchase has anything to do with this topic. But to say throwing out your principles. Because it will feel good. Doesn't make sense either. I was offered an 05 gt. At $5k over MSRP. I explained to them that was stupid. As I will accept no more than a $500 monthly payment. That it would take my nearly a year to pay off just the overage that they wanted for it. Now here's my situation. If I find the gt I want. On the dealers lot. I am willing to pay MSRP(Assuming I get a professional salesman. I've dealt with too many that are not). But if I have to order it. Then the dealer has next to nothing invested in this car. They haven't needed to have me take it out for a test drive. They haven't had it sitting on the lot. All they have done is take the order. And taken delivery of it. Since delivery is the $625 mandatory add on. And I don't mind it. I see no reason for them to ask me for more than invoice. They will make a good amount of money on the deal at that. With the hold back on the car and the options.

I just got back from my dealership and my dealer told me he still has allocation of 1 GT per month and the cars are being built into July.
