    Use a power inverter

If you go to your local hardware store or maybe even somewhere like Wal-Mart you could buy a power inverter. My buddy and I did it once for a roadtrip and we ran a 350Watt stereo off of it. Worked great but sometimes the inverter will get to hot and shut itself off. But that was with a 6 hour drive. Hope it works, shouldn't cost much more than 30-45 dollars I wouldn't imagine. Just plug it into your cigarette lighter and it converts the DC power to AC. Now you got tunes man!! :nice:

So the power in the car is DC and home electronics run off AC and thats why its not safe without the inverter?

not only the difference between ac and dc, but also your car operates at 12 volts and 9 volts and all household aplliances operate at either 110 or 220 volts. the power invertor converts the 110 volt stereo to operate at 9 volts (ciggerette lighter)

    Interesting stuff...

It's possible. Others have told you exactly how.

But... Although possible, you should consider simple laws of physics - more important is newtons law of inertia... Home stereo equipment is heavy, and in the car would NOT be secured. In event of sudden deceleration, these objects will become heavy *dangerous* projectiles.

Give it a second thought - or two.
