Been doing a bit of research lately :D

Ran across an interchange on a forum I had with fellow by the name
of Glenn way back in Dec of 04. After looking more closely ... I found
I had a file of his pull and loaded it up for a little comparison :nice:

I've found him to be friendly with his replies and knowledgeable
which shows by his very nice combo results :D

Lets look at his combo and compare it to another nice combo
which belongs to one of our very own 94-95 members ... GTJake :)

Here is the pull of Glenn's 320/324combo

Here is the Dec 04 conversation and some details about Glenn's combo

    Glenn

It took a good bit of TwEECing and a few modifications to up it from the 295HP/304TQ numbers it had last summer. I went through 4 iterations of programs for the EEC, added BBK aluminum underdrive pullies, twiddled with the fuel pressure and swapped a 2.5" Edelbrock RPM catback system for the stock exhaust. A lot of work for 25 RWHP and 24 Ft/LBS of torque. I picked up 5 RWHP and 4 RWTQ on the dyno by just upping the fuel pressure by 4 psi.

Nice job on your combo and I have a question or two.

Do your hookers have the old style or the ball & socket kind of collector connections?

Would you please share your thoughts on the gain of the Edel catback over the stock catback?

Was the 295/304 pull from last summer without the Twecer tune?

It would be great to see the complete details of your combo

    Glenn

Hookers have 3" collectors that require a 3"-2.5" reducer.

I previously had pretty much the same setup in my 95 Cobra except I used a Cobra intake instead of the RPM. When I dropped my stock exhaust (because it was too loud) and went to the Edelbrock the car picked up 1 mph and dropped .1 sec in ET with no other changes. I did not dyno the Cobra though.

The pull from last July was with either my 2nd or 3rd TwEECer tune, not sure which one. I wasn't satisfied with the numbers I got and the car ran fat at high RPM.

I dropped my base timing back to stock 10* from the 16* I had been running and reprogrammed my advance with the TwEECer. I dropped my fuel pressure 6 psi and TwEECed the WOT fuel tables to lean them out a bit and addressed some startup/warmup problems I was having. I then bought the UD pullies and the Catback. After these changes the car felt much crisper with the so I took the car back to the dyno in November.

The heads are E'bok Performer 1.90/1.60 that are milled ~.020" and I did some "massaging" to the intake and exhaust ports to just clean them up a bit, no major work. I'm running 10* base timing with a total of about 36* at max load. Fuel pressure is set to 46 psi with no vacuum. I have a 190 Lph Walbro pump with FMS 24# injectors, FMS 65mm TB and a 3/8" phenolic spacer under the plenum of the RPM intake. MAF is a C&L 76mm with the aluminum intake elbow and open filter with heat shield. I run a Crower 15512 cam that I degreed in to Crower timing specs with 1.7:1 Cobra roller rockers. The engine is a stock lower end from my old 88 ex-FHP Notchback with 110,000 miles on it. The only changes to the lower end is the swap to an SN95 timing cover, a FMS SFI harmonic balancer and the installation of an FMS windage tray. I run Mobil-1 10w-30 motor oil.

Here is a parts list of Glenn's combo

    heads-edel 6037 ported
    intake-edel rpm
    cam-crower 15512
    320rwhp
    324rwtq
    dyno/cal-dj sae
    tb-fms 65
    maf-c&l 76
    inj's-24
    rockers-1.7
    headers-hooker race lt's
    mid pipe-mac or h
    catback-edel
misc parts/mods-pulleys, windage tray, old style header collector
    trans-t5
    tune-tweecer

Allow me to make a comment or two about what I see :D

heads-a choice thats been around a while with a light clean up
dyno-notice the pull was done in SAE not STANDARD which is usually higher
tb-a choice some say is too small
maf-a choice some say is troublesome
rockers-steeper ratio will yield a small gain
headers-old school collector flows better than todays ball & socket design
misc parts-pulleys, windage tray yield small gains
    tune-endures max power

Notice he uses an elbow tb mounting which some say holds back the flow

Notice he has several mods that ... although they yield small gains .......
they all add up to the total sum of a nice outcome

The block has over 100k miles

    A nice gathering of parts
    A well thought out plan
Attention to detail in the mechanical AND pcm modifications

Very nice outcome and better that most without a doubt :nice:

Lets put up Glenn's nice combo next to Jakes
but first ... here is a parts list of Jakes combo

    heads-afr 165
    intake-edel perf ported
    cam-fti custom
    326rwhp
    341rwtq
    dyno/cal-dj sae
    tb-accu 75
    maf-prom 80
    inj's-24
    rockers-1.6
    headers-mac lt's
    mid pipe-mac pro chamber
    catback-mac
misc parts/mods-pulleys, cai, fox tb conversion
    trans-t5
    tune-tweecer

Most of us are familiar with Jake's very nice 326/341 combo

Here is a little comparison between both of these very nice combos

Just some data I stumbled upon as I was poking around in my files
I thought ya'll might like to see what I saw :)
    when
I threw them up along side each other :D
