ok stinger i've been reading and reading all about the svo's and the turboing of the fox body mustangs and also been reading your entire web site and you have convinced me to build up a turbo charged 2.3 fox mustang.i will be selling my mustangII which has a very nice 302 in her that really runs good. if i could build a nice 2.3 turbo fox that would even run close to the II i would be really happy. just to prove the point i just bought a turbo 2.3 turbo motor from ebay for $41.00 dollars, i'm also watching a 1993 2.3 liter LX mustang. both are close to my home so i guess the quest to build a mild looking killer turbo'ed fox mustang begins . looks like i'll be reading your site that much closer. thanks in advance for all of the questions that might pop up
Good to see I've made another "conversion" I'm sure it will be fun. Let me know if you have any questions that aren't covered on my site...
for goodness sake, keep the 302 powered car put the same amount of money as you put in your 2.3 powered one, and in the end tell me which ones faster.
wait till im done with my 2.3.......302 production blocks are weak...if u want something to take boost and abuse a 2.3 is where it is at....watch what im saying when you take it apart. turboford also has tons of info and stinger has just about all of the stuff you need to build a 2.3 worth a d@mn. just remeber if you cut corners and be cheap things wont work out....
I think you'll like the 2.3t a lot better. I finished my swap last year and I love to drive my 2.3 more than my 5.0.
needless to say that the motor will need to be rebuilt but it does come with the turbo, exhaust manifold and the complete long block. it even has the bell houseing and clutch assy.the type of the intake it has is the 4 in a row type.do you think this would work, put the turbo pistons in a 91-93 car, add the turbo and intercooler.would this work?
ok now,got the motor home and its sitting on the stand. looks like the motor came out of a 1984 ford turbo mustang. it has only one tube that goes to the actuater(witch is missing). turbo turns freely so does motor. i plan on rebuilding it from top to bottom before i install it into the car.stinger my question is should i get the ecu and harness from a TC in order to do the swap into a 87-90 mustang? i was reading your site and you used a TC motor to begin with and mine looks just a little different. thanks in advance
that is what was used for mine...a t/c wire harness and a computer from a auto T/C becuase it has more aggressive timing tables.
You'll want to get an 87-88 turbo coupe ecu. You'll also want a large air meter and 35lb injectors (which an 84 Mustang motor won't have). You'll also need about 12" of air meter wires/plug.
