Isn't it just one wire running from the alternator to the battery? That's how the Powermaster on my Bronco is.

Yes, you run the wire to the Battery or Solenoid. But, does the idiot light and amp guage still work or is there something else that needs to be done to keep them operational.

My guages still worked. I don't see it being any different for any other car.

Are you referring to your II or the Bronco?

Was the Bronco originally a 1-wire or 3-wire setup?

Last question, did your Bronco that started life with a 3-wire alternator have a factory amp gauge or just the idiot light?

    AMP guages suck

funny --a couple times when my stereo got quiet no whinning noise I knew I was not charging

    1- ripped a belt
    2- bad regulator
3- when she won't start anymore :notnice:

My bad, I think it is a volt gauge. The amp guages came on the early Broncos, didn't they?

Huge difference between the way they are wired.
