Could have minimized damage by properly installing the rollbar. The rollbar punched right through the floorboards.

Good eye, I didn't notice that at first but went back and looked at the pics and saw them sticking thru the bottom of the car.

Yeah, I had to look at it a few times. I was wondering why they were racing without a rollbar (cuz the roof was smashed in). Then I saw the rollbar sticking out. They should know better.

I think it was installed properly, but as it one of the weld in kits it wasn't the proper bar for hard core racing. Both driver and passenger walked away, so it did it's job. Obviously a bar that is welded to a couple plates welded to the floorpan is not adequate for the severity and type of impact this car went through. Sad, beautiful car, was,,,,,

The plates were inadequate. With that type of power and racing, they should have put bigger plates on. They're lucky no one was injured severely. It wasn't like it was just someone out having fun with their DD, or weekend cruiser.

I know racing machines such as this one have roll cages that bump up safety a considerable bit over stock but I still like knowing that my car has a 5 star crash rating.
