im about to start on the body work and prep to paint my coupe again. i painted her 2 years ago with a bc/cc. when i did it i took it all the way down to metal. now its in need of paint again because i didnt put enough clear on so when i sanded it, it left a real light layer that the sun(phoenix az) ate through. the question is...what kind of prep can i do to this? do i need to take it back down the the metal? or down to the primer? i do have some body work to do to it, its by no means perfect anymore(daily driver). thanks
I'll try to help. I'm still a rookie still practicing on others peoples cars. I've never painted a whole car just hoods, bumpers, and fender bender stuff. I'm stripping my car right now. Go just to the primmer. Make sure there's no shiney spots on the car. Sand all that out with 400 grit, Wipe down with acetone. Spray your base and clear. Dupont seems to be the best stuff going IMO.
