I am looking for a set of performance wheels for my '06 GT. I know there are a lot of wheels out there that are made for our cars but none of them are performance oriented, they are big and heavy. Im looking for an 18'' lightweight wheel. It also needs to be good looking. I like HRE but they are a little too much money, I want to keep it under 800 a wheel. Does anyone have any suggestions? O yea and my car is black if that makes a difference.

Weld aluma stars. They are 17's though and they are $625 a rim. Summitracing has them if you find anything for cheaper or better I would like to know as well.

I had fikse FM/5's on my Vette....Awesome wheel. Lingenfelter had the best price when I was looking. Forged 3 piece racing wheel.....17" were around $800 each. Of course that was 3 years ago.

My experience with Weld so far: Wheels that didn't fit; a compromised fit using spacers; all the chrome cracked and peeled. That was just the first 6 months and the expense I have to incur to get them to remedy it is just beginning.

When you say performance, do you mean drag racing or handling? And how lightweight are you looking? 20.5 lbs for an 18x8.5? 21 lbs for 18x9.5? Or 17 lbs for an 18x8? That's SSR's forged aluminum wheel weight.

There's the link to tirerack.com. Volk, SSR, Wedsport & others have lightweight rims in various widths & styles. clicking on specific tires will usually show wheel weights.

I am looking for a wheel that performs well on a road course. I already have my drag setup.

    Take a look at CCW

    ccwheel.com

I have 3 sets, the Classics are performance race wheels, the 1 piece wheels are performance in terms of material and construction.

The SP500's I have on my 06 now are 19x11 in back and they were lighter than my stock 18" fan blade wheels
