Hey all, it's been a while...Work/Eat/Sleep-Repeat! Don't worry though, I don't write my mother either! Anyway, I recieved my rebuild kit for my rebuild and promptly cracked it open to check it out...maybe this damn project will get rolling finally! Then I stumble across this gasket... It's 3 1/2 x 2 1/2-inches rectangular with four holes on each side (bolt holes?) and one 3/4-inch dia. hole in the top left corner. It is made like a header gasket (metal with coating) and is placement sensitive (TOP marked). ...Anyone know what it's for? I'v racked my brain and I can't think of anything. I've been to the VictorRienz site and that was no help. I also recieved two black rubber/neoprean strips about 4-inches long with a groove cut in them like they slide over the edge of sheet metal. Please help It'll feel better when I stop!
Cant picture the gasket in my head, but the strips are made for your timing cover, helps reduce noise. Remember most rebuild kits are unversal in aplication...i still have 5-10 gasket's ununsed after completing a rebuild. The only thing i can think of for that seal is maybe an geardriven fuel pump?
Yeah, I know what gasket you're talking about. I was looking at mine the other day and trying to figure out just what in God's creation it's for. It's a metal "sandwich" gasket just like the intake gasket. If nobody has a clue by tomorrow I'll post up a pic. The fuel pump has a seperate gasket in the kit. I also noticed that in my kit they give you extras...like they give you 3 cam seals, so you have one left over for some reason. And my kit also had two front cover/intermediate shaft cover gaskets in it.
I got my rebuild kit from nothern auto parts, and I had a few extra gaskets that god only knows what they go to.
