out of an 01 explorer, 77k miles, $700 :nice:

i can't figure out, though, if it came w/ 24 or 19# injectors...? they're the needle type, don't look like my stockers (not orange/black and don't have the bulge).

my bro-in-law's doing a stage 1 port, and so far it looks like i'm going w/ either the f or b cam.

headers are gonna have to wait, but i'm getting an o/r H and 4.10's for sure.

    thoughts? comments?

any tips for installation (saw the thread on "what you need to swap", but perhaps if there is any other info, i'd appreciate it).

ANy reason why people swap engines instead of H/I?
    Is it easier?

yeah, i feel more comfortable modding an engine w/ 77k mi over mine w/ close to 200k.

    24lb'ers--good to hear!

wonder if i can use them by soldering their connectors to my injector wiring?

Sounds just like the motor i picked up paul! I'd look into getting that compcams 274 xehr cam or whatever it is. just search for some of snoozer's posts. he has said that cam works really really well.

19 lb injectors... They are the newer tip design, but will still plug into the 'stang harness.

is the compression on the explorer motors the same as the mustang motors? if so, why the hell didnt they just put them in the mustangs in the first place?

The P-motors didn't come out 'til '97, and people wanted mod-motors in the Mustangs since '94?

Sorry, don't know about the compression.

Ford used the 302 for so much longer in the trucks because of the more lenient rules pertaining to emissions for trucks.

They actually needed to clean up the cars in '94 and the Mod motors weren't ready yet. That's why we have the "crappy" processors in our 94-95 cars. :(

i dunno about that ... it might be too much cam for a 302. i'd say go with the XE262 on a 302

I am currently doing this debate: buy explorer heads, or buy an explorer motor.

So i guess what (if any) accessories are on the engine you bought that you could turn around for cash later...

I say to ask for a custom cam. Anyone have the contact info for Ed? If it comes with 24s, you're one lucky SOB.

I know there was a guy on these boards that hit 300rwhp with these heads but used a custom cam. Does anyone know who this was?

I don't think it was him, cause the guy I remember said that the custom cam had been a huge part of achieving those numbers.
