Well I've had my stang for 3 years (2006 automatic v6 pony) and I've finally gotten around to getting a tune for it. I went on craigslist and scored a diablo sport predator and an AEM Brute Force cai for 200 bucks! They both have slight wear but nothing serious. I got home and plugged the Pred in and installed the 93 Octane tune, since I always burn premium. I go for my first rip and I'm instantly impressed with the results. When I punch it, it screams. So I go and fill up my car and notice that the Premium is actually 91....and come to think of it I don't think I've ever even seen 93 Octane fuel (Canada). So I go back home and overwrite the tune with the 91 Octane. I turn it over but it doesn't even fire. I try again and it does start but a little rough. I put it into reverse (its an automatic) and it seems to struggle shifting into gear. I get onto the road and put it into drive, struggles again slightly. I give it some gas....not bad....still has some good punch but not quite as good as the 93 octane setting. I go for a 10 minute burn, try a few donuts (nice!) and shift the gears around a bit to feel things out. Not quite as bad as earlier. My question is...whats the difference between the 93 and 91 tunes? Will it hurt to run the 93 tune on 91 octane fuel? Also I notice the fan is always running at full click. Sounds like a damn vacuum cleaner. Is that normal after the Predator tunes? Thoughts?
Yeah the 93 I have really kicks some butt compared to my 87. Watch your gas milage and youll be able to determine a good tune.
It seems normal for the car to be all freaked out after a ECM reflash. It will hunt for an idle and shift strangely for the first couple drive cycles. Mine clears up soon after, but does the whole freak out thing again everytime I have to flash it the ECM.
