i was going to install a cobra II chin spoiler i got from mustangs unlimited on my 77 mach 1. i have a front valance now that looks like the one the spoiler bolts to. Is the valance differnt from a mach 1 and a cobra or can i use the one i got i set it up there to test fit but didn't seem to match up. not sure if it is because i have the wrong piece or if the fiberglass piece i got just doesn't fit because of how it was made. I am close to spraying the primer on my car and would like to know if i missed a piece that i will need when it comes time to paint. A picture of the one i have can be seen at car domain on page 1 http://www.cardomain.com/id/insanemach1 Any help is welcomed.
You have the right setup. There is no difference in the shape of the valance from a Cobra and any other II, just cutouts on the ends which don't affect chin spoiler installation. The fiberglass may not fit 100% perfect, but should be fine. It will be a bit snug on the ends that bolt to the fenders. Just guessing, I'd say the problem is the way you're trying to line it up. The holes in the valance start to recede as they move away from the center. As for spacing, there are indentations in the fiberglass spoiler where the holes are to be drilled (except the center hole). Measure these, and also lay the valance upside down and mark off from the straight back part of the valance 4-1/8, 5-1/8, 5-1/4, 5-3/4, 5-1/4, 5-1/8, 4-1/8 (end to end). That's 7 holes in all for the valance, plus 1 in each fender. Good luck!
Thanks that makes things alot easier been looking all over for that piece lol and couldn't figure out why i could not find the other one ( cause there isn't one ). Headache finally gone
