I'm planning to sell my '02 GT Vert and get the new model. Originally planned to do so after the holidays but just found a '05 GT 5-speed with very low miles...a willing seller...in my color and options...hard to resist. Just hope it's not from Hurricane Central with dead fish in the trunk.

Here's my question - carfax shows a build date of 3/31/05 so it's one of the earlier runs of GT verts.

When I go test drive it later this week, are there known problems that were resolved by the factory in later production runs? I know it will be under warranty for another 28 months since I will be putting reduced miles on it...but often there are nickel-and-dime problems that are difficult for service departments to fix.

Thanks in advance for any input!

    Jeff

This production date was just a few weeks prior to the production line modifying both the fuel tank fill problem as well as the front strut "popping" problems. My GT coupe build date was the last week of April and all these problems were resolved. Hope this helps.

    So...

...just those two items, gas fill and strut popping.

I know Ford has a service fix for the strut pop - is there a fix for the gas fill problem or does one just have to live with it?

    Thanks for the response Peewee.

double ditto on the strut popping and slow gas fill

my dealer replaced the tank, replaced struts, and all seems well.

    thanks

    Bobbo -
    Thanks for your response.
I drove the '05 vert yesterday and it didn't exhibit any "pop" to the suspension; time will tell on that and the gas fill problem.
