I recently purchased a car out of state from New York and the car is a 1970 and the previous owner is telling me that prior to 1972 no vehicle in New York has a regular title as the registration is the title.

Is this person full of it or is this true, I really need a quick response please!!

I just encountered this as well. It's completely legitimate. The seller gives the buyer a transferable registration which you can take to your DMV and they'll title the car with that.

I just went to the DMV today and I got my car titled without a problem.

It's true. The registration should say transferable on it-cars w/titles have non-transferable registrations. Our 69 had no title, our 73 does.
